Let’s face it we all (well nearly all) of us love avocado. And there’s nothing better than avocado on toast. That’s the inspiration behind the new avocado pizza at Kola House, a New York live music venue designed by Lenny Kravitz. The venue hosts private and public concerts throughout the week and showcases it’s food over the weekend, with Saturday Supper Clubs hosted by their chef Jon Feshan, a Michelin starred chef from ABC Kitchen.
The pizza gained notoriety after it was featured in an article by Time. The pizza is made from handmade dough topped with layers of sliced avocado, radishes, jalapeno, cilantro and sunflower seeds. The chef offers a great selection of vegetarian dishes but designed the pizza to cater for increasing requests for vegan options. Chef Jon told Time;
“It’s a good dish because right now we have so many requests for people being vegan or gluten-free, or just wanting to eat healthier.“
The pizza replaces cheese with avocado making it a great dinner alternative to avo on toast. Better get moving if you want to get one as they only serve 12 of these pizzas each night for $22 each, and it’s first-come, first served. Or if you’re not in the Meatpacking District anytime soon, why not re-create at home for a fraction of the price.
