Cardi B is following up on the success of her first collaboration with affordable retailer Fashion Nova with a new collection featuring vegan leather.
The Grammy Award-winning rapper’ new fashion line draws inspiration from the ’80s and ’90s, “balanced with themes of empowerment and rebellion,” according to a press release. The Fashion Nova x Cardi B collection emphasizes “classic boudoir” attire with corsets, latex, vegan leather, and “hyper shine wet looks.”
“This one is different than the first because we have more color. We have more cutouts, it’s more fun,” the 26-year-old Bronx native told ET. “It’s more summertime, but it also has that Matrix look that I like.”
The vegan-friendly collection features 47 looks and 107 pieces up to size 3X. Like her first collection from last fall, everything is relatively affordable, ranging between $29 to $99.
“I study what people want,” Cardi B continued. “I read what some of the pros and some of the cons [were] of my last collection … so it’s like, OK, it’s going to be a little more fun. More summertime vibes. And I think people are going to like this one.”
The “Bodak Yellow” singer took to her Instagram story last June to share that she was trying vegan food in a bid to eat healthier during her pregnancy. “[It’s my] first time eating vegan y’all,” she told her 26 million followers. “I hope I don’t waste my money. There’s a burrito and there’s a pancake. Gotta’ eat a lil’ bit more healthy and see what the f*ck is up.”
While the influential artist hasn’t announced any permanent dietary changes to her lifestyle, it’s understood that it’s safe to follow a plant-based diet during pregnancy. Vegan “Clueless” star and mother-of-one Alicia Silverstone wrote about her experiences doing just that in her 2014 book, “The Kind Mama: A Simple Guide to Supercharged Fertility, a Radiant Pregnancy, a Sweeter Birth, and a Healthier, More Beautiful Beginning.”
In July, Cardi B gave birth to her first child, a daughter named Kulture Kiari Cephus. Rapper Offset is her father.
Fashion Nova x Cardi B is set to launch on May 8 and will be available online.
