Disney Just Launched Vegan Cookies and Snack Bars

Disneyland Resort just launched the bare necessities of any vacation — vegan cookies, snack bars, and dairy-free milk chocolate.

According to WDW News Today, the new treats are fittingly available at the Candyland Palace at Disney’s luxury resort. Called “Snacks With Character,” the line is completely vegan and free from top allergens like soy, nuts, and gluten.

Vegan snacks include mini chocolate chip cookies, dark and rice milk chocolate bars, chocolate marshmallow grain and seed bars (gelatin-free, of course), and banana caramel grain and seed bars. The packaging features characters that helped build the global Disney empire — either Mickey, Donald, or Goofy.

Disney parks are more than just a theme park to indulge your inner Disnerd. They’re also a haven for vegan food. A lot of Disneyland’s and Disney World’s signature treats are vegan, like Mickey pretzels and Dole Whip — a fruity soft-serve that comes in flavors like pineapple and strawberry.

Disney has its finger on the pulse as far as visitor preferences go. Earlier this year, Disney  World launched a guide to the Magic Kingdom’s plant-based options. Disneyland was crowned the most vegan-friendly theme park by animal rights group PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) earlier this year.

“Once upon a time, theme park food meant hamburgers, hot dogs, and turkey legs. Times have changed, and so have menus,” PETA wrote.

Disney World has Erin McKenna’s, a gluten-free and vegan bakery, while Disneyland offers treats free from animal ingredients at Sprinkles Cupcakes. Breakfast food at both parks, like Mickey-shaped waffles, can be made vegan upon request. There are plenty of savory options at both parks as well, from vegan hot dogs and burgers to onigiri.

Disney’s vegan Snacks With Character retail at $2.59 for the cookies and $3.49 for the bars.
