Dr. Praeger to Debut High Protein Vegan Meat Range

U.S. based frozen food brand, Dr. Praeger, has launched a brand-new, meat-free, soy-free product line. Pure Plant Protein will feature plant-based burgers, breakfast sausages, and chickenless tenders made from pea protein and other veggies, such as carrots and butternut squash. The range will also include kid-friendly veggie nuggets filled with nutritious super greens.

“We’re bringing clean ingredients to the growing meatless category and packing in the protein while loading up with real vegetables for added nutrition – without any of the fake stuff making headlines,” Larry Praeger, Dr. Praeger’s CEO, said in a statement. He continued, “Flexitarians are one of the fastest-growing groups out there. They want and deserve better tasting meatless products with ingredients they know and recognize. This is for them.”

The Dr. Praeger brand was born over 20 years ago, out of an unlikely pairing: two heart surgeons. The surgeons, whose children now run the company, wanted to create frozen foods that were delicious and convenient, but also nutritious. The two were motivated by their patients who inspired them to create a line of products that would encourage people to adopt healthier eating habits.

“We want to contribute to people’s ability to live their lives to the fullest!” The family state on their website. “The biggest impact we can make is by delivering the most delicious recipes made from simple, nutritious foods that help encourage good eating habits that last a lifetime.” The company, who only use recognizable, wholesome ingredients, already offer an extensive range of vegan options. Black bean chipotle pollock burgers, kale puffs, sweet potato hash browns, and brussels sprout cakes are just some of the products available currently.

The new Pure Plant Protein range, which debuted at the Natural Products Expo West in Anaheim, Calif., earlier this month, is due to be available nationwide in natural and conventional grocers this summer.
