Gordon Ramsay Launches Vegan Tofu Egg Breakfasts

Gordon Ramsay Restaurant Serves Up Vegan Egg Breakfasts

Chef Gordon Ramsay’s London-based restaurant Bread Street Kitchen now serves vegan breakfast.

The British chef announced the new addition to the menu today. “Who knew tofu eggs were this tasty? #Vegan breakfast now @breadstreetkitchen,” he wrote.

The new Bread Street Kitchen vegan option consists of scrambled tofu served with quinoa, mung beans, sauteed spinach, mushrooms, and avocado. You can also order it with a side of toast, white or brown.

Gordon Ramsay ‘Adapts’ to Veganism

Chef Ramsay, once notorious for mocking vegan food and making jokes like “I’m a member of PETA! People eating tasty animals…” in a February 2018 tweet, has changed his tune over the past year.

It started with the arrival of bottomless vegan pizza at his London-based restaurant Street Pizza last April. “Going to give this whole #vegan thing a try. Yes, guys, you heard that right. Gx,” he wrote at the time. Two months later, he welcomed vegan “Riverdale” star Madelaine Petsch onto his YouTube show for a cooking challenge, where he made a marinated cauliflower steak with a side of chickpeas.

As of last January, Bread Street Kitchen now offers a vegan menu, which now features main courses such as a celeriac wellington and charred aubergine and poached rhubarb with vegan rice pudding and meringue for dessert.

Earlier this month, Ramsay added a vegan roast to the Bread Street Kitchen. “If the roast is going to survive, it needs to evolve to meet the expectations, and diets, of our generation. Hence, the rise of the vegan and vegetarian roast,” says the website, noting that the UK launched more plant-based food than any other nation last year, which led to a small spat with perpetual anti-vegan “Good Morning Britain” host Piers Morgan. “So Piers Morgan is now a food critic?! Go and f*ck yourself! Seriously? Really?” Ramsay said when Morgan’s criticism of the vegan roast was brought to his attention on “The Late Late Show” with James Corden.

The once plant-based food-averse Ramsay advised his fellow chefs, “Veganism is on the rise, we’ve got to adapt and eat a slice of humble pie.”

The vegan breakfast is now available at Gordon Ramsay’s London-based restaurant, Bread Street Kitchen.
