Leading plant-based physician and founding president of the Physicians Committee of Responsible Medicine (PCRM) Neal Barnard, M.D. launched a new book called “The Vegan Starter Kit.” The book – packed with nutrition guidelines, recipes, and reference charts – is so useful for transitioning vegans, it has even gained the approval of the world-renowned director and longtime vegan James Cameron and his wife Suzy Amis Cameron.

According to PCRM, “The Vegan Starter Kit” offers all the tools that any new vegan needs. As well as nutritious recipes and tips, Barnard answers important questions like, “How do I plan a vegan meal? Is protein an issue? Which are the best choices at restaurants or if I’m traveling?” notes the organization on its website.

The book also addresses healthy eating for children and pregnant others, and helps readers to plan everything from basic meals to large-scale holiday feasts.

The Camerons believe the new book will be a real help to those who have just started to eat more plant-based foods.

“We’ve known Neal Barnard for years as a leader in the plant-based revolution,” the couple said in a statement. “His new book makes it so easy to start your plant-based journey that we’re recommending the Vegan Starter Kit to everyone we meet [who is] ‘vegan-curious’ or just interested in good health, better energy levels, and a longer, more vibrant life.”

The Camerons are keen advocates of plant-based diets. Their MUSE school – a private K-12 school founded in 2015 with a focus on sustainability – adopted a fully vegan menu back in 2015. It was also recently revealed that only plant-based food would be served on the sets of Cameron’s upcoming “Avatar” movies, set to be released in 2020, 2021, 2024, and 2025.

Additionally, the filmmaker recently produced the feature-length documentary “The Game Changers” which follows athlete James Wilks on a “quest for the truth behind the world’s most dangerous myth: that meat is necessary for protein, strength, and optimal health.”

Barnard’s Cameron-approved “The Vegan Starter Kit” is on sale now from Amazon and Barnes & Noble.
