Karlie Kloss Serves Vegan Beyond Burger at Summer Family BBQ

Entrepreneur and supermodel Karlie Kloss recently served vegan Beyond Burgers at a summer BBQ with friends and family.

According to VogueKloss documented the event on her Instagram stories. After labeling the meatless burgers a “Silicon Valley It food,” the fashion and lifestyle publication stated that at the BBQ, Kloss’ father could not tell the difference between Beyond Meat’s “bleeding” plant-based burger and the real thing.

Kloss’ meatless BBQ follows her recent trip to the Beyond Meat factory in El Segundo, California, for a “Kode with Klossy” video segment. The nonprofit initiative was founded by Kloss herself and aims to empower women working in technology and engineering.

During her time at the factory, the supermodel learned about how the Beyond Burger is created and why there is a need for more plant-based products in the food industry. “As our global population continues to grow, we need more engineers creating out-of-the-box solutions to feed our planet,” commented Kloss in the video.

Beyond Meat wants to turn the food industry on its head. By selling its realistic vegan burgers out of the meat counter in a number of stores across the U.S. (and soon around the world), the company aims to encourage those who would normally purchase animal products to choose plant-based instead.

“We believe there is a better way to feed the planet,” reads the Beyond Meat website“Our mission is to create mass-market solutions that perfectly replace animal protein with plant protein. We are dedicated to improving human health, positively impacting climate change, conserving natural resources and respecting animal welfare.”

Impossible Foods, Beyond Meat’s main competitor, is also on a mission to reshape the food system. And much like the Beyond Burger, its flagship product the meaty “bleeding” Impossible Burger has a whole host of celebrity fans. In fact, in June, vegan actor Ruby Rose hosted her own meatless BBQ, serving up the Impossible Burger to her “Pitch Perfect 3” colleagues.

Much like Kloss, Rose showed off the animal product-free gathering on her Instagram account. She captioned the post, “turning people vegan…one burger at a time.”
