Pregnant Katy Perry Ditches Beef for Impossible Burgers

Katy Perry says she is “grossed out” by beef and satisfies her pregnancy cravings with the vegan Impossible Burger.

The 35-year-old singer made the announcement during an Instagram Live video earlier this week to promote her new single “Never Worn White.”

Foods that gross me out now are beef. I’m not really into red meat, thank god for the Impossible Burger,” said Perry. Made with soy protein, the “bleeding” Impossible Burger by Impossible Foods cooks, looks, and tastes like its beefy counterpart.

In the music video for the single, Perry revealed that she and her fiancé, actor Orlando Bloom, are expecting a baby.

I’m excited, we’re excited and we’re happy — and it’s probably the longest secret I’ve ever had to keep. I knew I would tell you in the best way, which is through a piece of music because that’s how I speak to you,” said Perry.

She jokingly added: “I had to reveal it at some point because it was getting pretty obvious.

This is the couple’s first child together. Bloom has a nine-year-old son with his ex-wife, model Miranda Kerr.

Katy Perry Invests in Impossible Foods

Last year, Impossible Foods announced Perry had invested in the company. Other celebrity investors include Jay Z, Zedd, Serena Williams, and Jaden Smith.

Perry even dressed up as an Impossible Burger for the 2019 Met Gala. She dressed up as the patty again for a cameo appearance in Taylor Swift’s music video for her single “You Need to Calm Down.”

In the video, Perry is embraced by Swift, who is wearing a French fry costume. Perry posted a photo of the duo on Instagram with the caption “This meal is BEEF-free.”

Bloom is also a fan of the Impossible Burger. Last October, the actor uploaded an Instagram Story of a picture of the Impossible Whopper sign at a Burger King. In the caption, Bloom said the meatless burger was “a road trip must.”

Perry previously said her fiancé encourages her to eat more vegan food. She told Entertainment Tonight, “he’s always trying to get me to go hike, or do yoga or eat vegan.”
