London’s vegan fast-food hotspot, Temple of Seitan, famous for its fried Chick’n and burgers, is set to open a new location in Hackney, in the center of Hackney Downs Vegan Market.
The new cafe and store, which opens today (Monday 21st May), is named “Temple Goods” and will be setting up shop for at least the summer months, according to Bec of Temple of Seitan. Avocado on toast, a Chick’n Caesar salad, and a selection of toasties are just some of the new vegan treats set to be available on the rotating menu. “We are very excited to announce that we have taken over the cafe at Hackney Downs Studios for (at least) the summer,” Bec told Fat Gay Vegan. “We will be building it into something pretty special over the coming months, so please follow our new cafe on Instagram for updates!”
“To begin with, we will be serving our full range of cakes and pastries, as well as Dark Arts Coffees, and a rotating menu of breakfast and lunch dishes. We will also be stocking ‘vegan treatz‘ and are working with some other independent vegan businesses to build a stock of hard to get goods to take home,” Bec added.
“Given the success of Hackney Downs Vegan Market we think this is the perfect location for us to set up shop,” she continued. “The Hackney Downs Vegan Market was where we experienced some of our first real successes and without the support of Hackney Downs Studios and FGV we certainly wouldn’t be where we are today. We are looking forward to serving up some weekend specials to complement the market!”
The new venture, which will be open Monday to Saturday, and Sundays from June 3rd, in Hackney Downs Studios, follows the chains second store opening in Camden earlier this year. Temple of Camden was launched in January and serves up, for the most part, the same menu as the company’s original eatery, Temple of Hackney.
The new cafe and convenience store will also be getting involved with this year’s London Vegan Beer Fest, opening as an indoor beer hall and serving up exclusive vegan food options and beers to ticket holders.
