The winner of “MasterChef South Africa” season two, Kamini Pather, is sharing her culinary skills with Cape Town by launching a vegan food delivery service named FÜDY.
Announcing the news via Instagram, Pather wrote, “I present you with the ‘fruit of my brain’, @fudydelivery.” Introducing her “macronutrient weighted, made-to-order, meal delivery service,” she explained, “Each dish is comprised of enough protein, carbs and fats to keep your fitness and life goals in check, whilst also keeping your taste buds cheering.”
Noting a gap in the market for a health-focused meal delivery service, the “Girl Eat World” travel show star hopes that FÜDY will make healthy eating second nature. “This is one of those #lifehacks that I needed,” she explained. “Get home hungry but don’t have the energy to shop or cook. But I still wanted my meals to deliver on nutrient content and flavour.”
Although not 100 percent plant-based herself, Pather has only positive things to say about vegan eating. She acknowledges that the lifestyle is better for the planet and makes her body feel lighter and healthier. She also told IOL that “living a plant-based lifestyle has also challenged my cooking style and ability because one has to retrain the brain to think in vegetable terms.”

Alongside her business partners, Pather created a range of wholesome, tasty dishes for her delivery service, including plant-based Alfredo with cashew-nut cream and portobello mushrooms; satays with turmeric root, lemongrass, and coconut milk; and “buttery” curries with roasted masala. All dishes are made up of low GI carbs (carbs which release less glucose more slowly), fresh vegetables, and consciously sourced proteins such as crispy tofu and black bean and quinoa falafels.
Environmentally friendly as well as healthy, FÜDY meals also come in 100 percent recyclable packaging.
FÜDY joins a worldwide movement of plant-based meal companies capitalizing on consumers’ evolving preference for healthy and sustainable food options. In the U.S., companies including Veestro, Daily Harvest, and Purple Carrot offer healthy vegan meals that are ready to heat and eat. Elsewhere, Plantcurious launched the UK’s first fully plant-based recipe box, while Simple Feast, a Danish meal delivery service, launched a “Quit Meat” hotline to make plant-based eating easier than ever.
FÜDY is expected to launch in Cape Town, South Africa on November 1st on Uber Eats.
