These Melty Vegan Cheese Shreds Will Make You Forget About Dairy

There’s nothing quite like the ooey-gooey pull of a fresh slice of pizza, the mouthwatering texture of the perfect grilled cheese, or that nicely crisped corner of baked pasta everyone fights over. Plant-based cheese often gets a bad rap in the “meltiness” department, but one Canadian company has raised the bar.

Vegan family-owned brand Nabati Foods, named after the Arabic word for “plant-based,” has created vegan cheese shreds that add a layer of umami flavor to any dish, and melt flawlessly into your favorite “cheesy” dishes.

“We developed Nabati Cheeze by selecting our ingredients carefully and developing a production process that yields a great cheese alternative that rivals dairy cheese,” Ahmad Yehya, president of Nabati Foods, tells LIVEKINDLY.

Made from organic coconut oil, Nabati Cheeze Shreds melt just like dairy.

The texture does indeed stand up to “the real thing” in dishes such as one-pot pasta, paninis, and everyone’s favorite: mac and cheese. It’s a testament to Nabati’s commitment to creating the highest quality plant-based food possible.

“We love the fact that our cheese is just like dairy cheese in terms of melt and taste,” adds Yehya. “We love using it on almost everything— from adding it to soups, pizza, and making nachos at home. There are no limits.”

Nabati believes that tasty food doesn’t need to be unhealthy: It can be made from sustainable, natural, plant-based ingredients that satisfy cravings without any guilt.

Made from organic coconut oil, organic tapioca starch, and pea protein, Nabati Cheeze Shreds come in two flavors: Cheddar and Mozzarella. Both flavors are kosher and free from GMO ingredients as well as allergens like lactose, casein, soy, and gluten. Compared to dairy cheese, it’s lower in sodium, too.

Dairy-Free Delights

Before the brand ventured into vegan cheese, Nabati Foods mastered the vegan cheesecake, arguably one of the greatest desserts. Instead of cream cheese and ricotta, Nabati Foods makes this decadent Italian dish from only raw, plant-based ingredients like cashews, almonds, dates, cacao, and blueberries.

The flavors cater to all palates: if you love chocolate, the Chocolate Cheesecake and the chocolate-topped Peanut Butter Cheesecake are must-tries. For something light and fruity, try the Blueberry Cheesecake. And if you love the classics, then you’ll want to bring the Tiramisu Cheesecake to the dessert table. Everyone will thank you (and you’ll be keeping your fingers crossed that nobody else wants a slice).

Up Next: Plant-Based Meat

The company also has plans to expand to plant-based burgers and chicken.

“When we develop products and especially for this line we think of how to best give the consumer the freedom to cook and be creative,” says Yehya. Instead of being already breaded and seasoned, Nabati’s vegan chicken patties will be entirely customizable, so the cook can bread it, cook it like a filet, or slice it and add it to soups.

“Why restrict the consumer’s ability to cook their food?” says Yehya. “Making great food is about having the freedom to be creative and make something that you can enjoy and we are all about enjoying our food.”
