Actor Millie Bobby Brown—known for her role as Eleven in the hit Netflix series Stranger Things—has announced the launch of a new vegan, cruelty-free beauty range.

Named Florence by Mills, the new range for Generation Z-ers was actually inspired by someone much older: Brown’s great grandmother Florence. “I felt like a brand about individuality and bravery and being truthful should be named after somebody who was all of those things,” the actor told WWD.

The full product list isn’t available yet, but according to Elle, it won’t consist of products like full-coverage matte foundations. Due to the brand’s young target audience, the products in the range—priced between $8 and $32—are fun, but also subtle.

A percentage of the profits will be donated to the Olivia Hope Foundation. The organization was founded in the name of Olivia Hope LoRusso, a friend of Brown’s who passed away from childhood cancer back in 2017.

Despite her age—Brown turned 15 in February 2019—the star is experienced in the world of makeup.

“I’ve been in a make-up chair since I was 10, 11 years old, and I have really been introduced to all types of products,” she explained. “I’ve had special effects on my face, bloody, all different types of foundation… I wanted to come into the space because there was a gap in the market for young people.”

A Love for Animals

The new makeup range—which includes Light Skin Tint and Eye Gel Pads—is certified vegan by the animal rights organization PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals).

Brown is a huge animal lover. She recently released a vegan-friendly ocean-inspired sneaker range with major footwear brand Converse, featuring her favorite animal: whales. “I feel really passionate about whales,” she told Teen Vogue earlier this year. “Whales, they symbolize who I am as a person: they’re loud, they’re the queen of the sea. I love the ocean.”

Her love for animals also features in her decision-making process for movies. She chose to star in Godzilla: King of the Monsters— released earlier this year—because of its animal-friendly message.

She said, “I have an enormous amount of respect for animals. And I love the way that this movie portrays animals. As much as they respect us, we should respect them.”
