Actress Nina Dobrev, former star of the Vampire Diaries, revealed she is trying to go vegan. In an interview between Dobrev and Ruby Rose, transcribed by lifestyle magazine Byrdie, Dobrev said her friendship with Rose, who is a vegan, inspired her to think more seriously about adopting a plant-based, cruelty-free lifestyle.
During a phone conversation, Rose questioned Dobrev on a variety of lifestyle topics. Speaking about fitness and health, Dobrev, who is 29 years old, revealed she pays close attention to her diet and exercise regime as she ages. “I used to be able to eat whatever I wanted and didn’t go to the gym,” Dobrev said. “This is a newfound love for fitness and education about the type of food that I’m putting in my body.”
“I hadn’t truly, truly considered veganism until I met you,” the actress said to Rose. “But hanging out with you and eating these Impossible burgers definitely inspired me to consider it more seriously because [vegan food] is so yummy and delicious.” She joked, “Either that or your friendship can cast a spell on me.”
The Impossible Burger is a plant-based patty that resembles the appearance, taste, and texture of a conventional beef burger. The burger, produced by Impossible Foods, delivers iron, vitamins, and 20 grams of protein in each serving. Like all plant-based food, it also contains no cholesterol.
Dobrev isn’t the first friend that Rose has introduced the Impossible Burger to; Rose previously hosted a plant-based barbecue with the cast of “Orange Is the New Black.” At the event, she grilled Impossible Burgers to serve to guests, joking that she was “turning people vegan one burger at a time.”
Other celebrities have been spotted enjoying the plant-based meat. Actor Mark Wahlberg dined on the Impossible Burger with NFL Patriots’ Rob “Gronk” Gronkowski at a vegan restaurant in Miami. Impossible Foods catered for Katy Perry and her team during her latest tour, and last month, vegan musician Miley Cyrus posted a photo of herself biting into an Impossible Burger during her Independence Day celebrations.
