Starbucks Debuts New Vegan BBQ Pulled Jackfruit Wrap

Starbucks has just announced its latest food addition – a BBQ Vegan Wrap with Jackfruit and Slaw.

If you were excited to hear the recent news that international Starbucks stores will now carry oat milk as part of the four dairy-free milk options but wonder why Starbucks hasn’t caught up food on its options to meet the demand of arguably the biggest global trend right now – your requests have now been answered.

Whether you’re veg-curious, looking for take-out food to help your through Veganuary or are running late for work, in dire need of a quick pick-me-up, you can try this wrap for yourself, at only £3.29. Inside these whole-wheat seeded wraps are a carrot and pureed sweet corn slaw, spinach leaves and the star of the show: pulled BBQ jackfruit.

Jackfruit is a versatile fruit that has become a common staple in meat-free diets, as the flesh resembles that of pulled pork when cooked. When flavored like pork it can almost unrecognizable from what meat-lovers are used to. This global coffee chain isn’t the only one to catch onto the jackfruit train – just last month, Trader Joe’s released a new, ready-made yellow jackfruit curry.

Although Starbucks’ vegan options wouldn’t quite be considered ample (yet) – a humble dairy-free coffee can be accompanied by Barnana snacks, this new wrap, of course – and those lucky customers in Florida can grab a sweet vegan cupcake.

However, Starbucks, we’re still eagerly awaiting the days of grabbing a plant-based muffin with our coffees.
