"Cash Cow Radio," a new vegan "True Crime" podcast, has launched on iTunes and Spotify, and it isn't afraid to "name names."\u00a0 Hosted by environmental scientist Natalie Blanton and vegan shoemaker Stephanie Nicora -who have backgrounds in animal-based industries, rodeo,\u00a0and leather shoe making - the new podcast aims to expose crimes and atrocities that are committed against the planet and animals, but also to celebrate those who are fighting to protect them around the world. So far, Cash Cow Radio has aired two episodes, with two parts in each. The first focused on the beauty brand NARS, and its controversial decision to drop its cruelty-free label, as well as Brazillian industrial animal agriculture. According to the podcast, the country is one of the few places left in the world to continue to export live cattle. The third, named "The Virtual Reality of Chimp Testing," evaluates the effectiveness of virtual reality as an empathy tool. Podcasts are one of the biggest trends of 2018; one study from the summer revealed that a third of Americans tuned into a podcast of some kind in May\/June, and in the UK, according to the BBC, six million now listen in regularly. An effective method of engaging listeners with key social, environmental, and ethical issues, there are a number of activists already using the platform to discuss veganism or animal rights issues, including the hosts of\u00a0"Paw & Order" Canada's first-ever animal law podcast,\u00a0and "Harry Potter" star Evanna Lynch, who hosts The\u00a0Chickpeeps. Speaking about her\u00a0podcast at the end of last year, Lynch said,\u00a0"I just want to get people together and have these conversations and learn as we go.\u00a0I still have a lot of questions I haven't fully investigated, and the podcast gives me the opportunity to do that."
