Festival season is coming up, and if you're looking for a way to jazz up your skin and smell pretty at the same time, the world's first vegan "visual tattoo perfume" might be just what you need. Launched by new beauty brand Amriki -- founded by Tel Aviv raised Shavit Shapiro -- the Visual Perfume comes with an array of stencils, patterns, and a wand so that you can draw your sweet-smelling designs freehand if you desire. The easy-to-apply (and remove) ink -- which comes in ivory or charcoal shades and lasts for at least 12 hours -- features a unisex fragrance, with notes of spearmint, spicy ginger, and juniper berry. According to Vogue, Shapiro worked alongside perfumers at International Flavors & Fragrances Inc to create the perfect scent for her unique product, which is hypoallergenic, cruelty-free, and water-proof. "We wanted to blend the most desirable scent characteristics so that it would be loved by all," she told the leading fashion and lifestyle publication. "There's no better way to express your individuality than by using your body as your most personal piece of art," Shapiro explained. "We want to empower individuals with this multi-sensory form of expression." Why make a visual fragrance? According to Amkiri's website, it all started with the concept of self-expression. It notes, "the development of Visual Fragrance began with a question: If fragrance can be a personal signature, why can't it be seen?" This led Shapiro -- whose parents both worked in the natural cosmetics industry -- to explore different ideas and forms of artistic self-expression, as well as the history of the makeup and perfume industries. "Combining her background and passion, Shoval started experimenting with the senses of sight and scent," explains Amkiri. "Teaming up with her mother Aliza Shavit, a chemist and cosmetics expert, the mother-daughter duo spent years in the lab, attempting to make the invisible, visible." It continues, "After dozens of iterations, they landed on a winning patented formula. An exquisite ink-like liquid that carries a fine fragrance, with a staying power of twelve hours & beyond." Amkiri's Visual Perfume freehand wands and stencils are available from its website now.
