New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady has launched two vegan protein powders ahead of the Super Bowl through his brand, TB12. Called Plant-Based Protein, the new product is available in two flavors, Chocolate and Vanilla.
Each serving contains 24 grams of plant-based pea protein, no sugar, and 1 gram of net carbs. It’s also free from soy, gluten, preservatives, and GMO ingredients. Pea protein is also a natural source of amino acid lysine, which aids in muscle recovery and helps create collagen and arginine, which improve circulation.

Is Tom Brady Vegan?
Brady eats a mostly vegan, low-carb diet. According to Men’s Health, 80 percent of the quarterback’s diet is vegetables and he avoids starchy foods like bread and potatoes. He drinks at least 25 glasses of electrolyte-infused water a day and also incorporates protein shakes into his daily routine. The 41-year-old athlete’s chef also has a long list of ingredients to avoid, such as white sugar, white flour, MSG, iodized salt, nightshades (tomatoes, eggplants, and peppers), cold cuts, white rice, and dairy.
The highly acclaimed athlete has partnered with weekly vegan meal delivery service Purple Carrot to offer high-protein, gluten-free, low-carb dinners through his TB12 brand. New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski credited the plan for “extending” his career last October.
“I’m not super, super crazy, but I’m pretty crazy about [his diet],” Gronkowski said. “I like to go with mostly plant-based diet. I’d say about 75% and then the other 25%, just keeping it clean but eating whatever. Always making sure I get my fruits and veggies in every day.”
Many athletes have spoken of the health benefits of avoiding meat, eggs, and dairy. Vegan weightlifter Kendrick Yahcob Farris, the only American male weightlifter to compete in the 2016 Rio Olympics, says that both his performance and recovery improved once he cut dairy out of his diet. He said, “my performance was getting better simply because I wasn’t doing harm to my body, so recovery was happening faster.”
