Many gym-goers, vegan or not, are beginning to opt for plant-based proteins in place of the more commonly used milk-derived powders (Whey and Casein).
Athletes such as German Strongman Patrik Baboumian, NFL Defence lineman David Carter, Ultra Runner Scott Jurek and general fitness enthusiasts are reaping the rewards of plant-based nutrition in more ways than one and they certainly don’t have any trouble building their muscle. In fact a number of successful sports personalities claim that avoiding meat and dairy as a protein source has left them with higher energy levels and all-round better recovery times.
Some benefits of choosing plant protein over dairy include; being generally easier to digest, and (unlike their milk-based counterparts) are anti inflammatory along with having no association with health risks or the development of acne.
Additionally, vegan proteins are considered to be hypoallergenic which makes it a great alternative for those who have dairy allergies.
