Ok, so right about now, it’s +90 here in L.A. which means it must be time for some ice-cream! Not that you need any kinda toasty weather as an excuse, but as it makes any outing for cake sound a bit more legit….let’s run with it!

Los Angeles Finest.. Part Deux.. (catch pt 1 here!)

Top 5 Plant Based Puddings | Los Angeles

1. Beaming

First up, it’s Beaming! Located on Santa Monica’s trendy Montana Avenue, this self-proclaimed “organic superfood cafe,” is a must when that sweet-tooth needs soothing. While providing a huge selection of plant-based goodies, favorites here include their Banana Chocolate Chip Bread and Carrot Muffins – which are insanely good! In addition, highly recommended is their Lime Tart, Chocolate Avocado Mousse and Gelato Cookie Sandwich.

Also offering a TON of amazing made-to-order smoothies, my pro tip is to pair your chosen pud up with one of these freshly prepared almond-milk based babies…and feel the yumminess light you up both inside and out!

Where? Santa Monica
When? Monday – Friday 7am – 6pm | Saturday 8am – 5pm | Sunday 9am – 5pm

2. Kippy’s Non Dairy Ice Cream Shop

Ahhh…Kippy’s! A love affair has begun with this super cool little store, which serves an abundance of non-dairy ice-creams made in-house on a daily basis. Using just 5 ingredients or less to make, their all natural flavors offer the absolute best in simple, sweet, earthy goodness.

To note though, with the exception of their super yummy Coffee, Chocolate, Cinnamon and Vanilla Date options – which are 100% vegan – the remainder of choices are sweetened with raw local honey.

Otherwise, everything is also soy, nut, and gluten free! In addition, more scrumptiousness is provided by way of their extensive selection of “Superfood Toppings,” which include – just to give you the gist – Goji Berries, Mulberries and Sun Dried Pineapples! Ehhhh…YUM!

Where? Venice
When? 11am – 11pm Everyday

3. Rising Hearts Bakery

There’s only one word for this place, and that’s – WOW! Just…WOW, WOW, WOW.
EVERYTHING here is, as their menu states, “all gluten free, vegan and kosher” and, in having found myself in cupcake heaven, the added declaration that their baked goods are “all delicious,” is a tidbit of info not to be taken with a pinch of salt!

Having a multitude of mouthwatering flavors to choose from, such as Chocolate Puddin’ Pie, Salted Caramel, Key Lime Pie and Cinnamon Coffee, these scrummy buns are just the tip of the iceberg from what’s on offer.

With a whole host of other amazing pastries to get your hands on…think blondies, brownies, cheesecakes, muffins, AND, whoopie pies…I suggest you get down to this Culver City gem ASAP! Ah, just the mere thought of it right now…heartmelting

Where? Culver City
When? 10am – 6pm Everyday

4. Sweet Rose Creamery

Nestled within Brentwood’s upscale Country Mart, this adorable little parlour offers some “to die for” vegan options that include their Dark Chocolate and Vanilla Coconut house staples on the ice-cream front, along with the most luscious seasonal sorbet flavours – such as Nectarine and Cherry – which are currently available.

Whipped up daily in small batches using only the freshest of ingredients from Santa Monica’s renowned Farmers’ Market, you can absolutely taste the attention to detail in each delectably handcrafted bite.

So, with several stores located in and around the city, you’ll have plenty of pit-stops to choose from should an uncontrollable sugar craving need to be sorted out…PRONTO!

Where? Brentwood
When? 12am – 11pm Everyday

5. Blue Star Donuts

Another winner, Blue Star Donuts are, without question, the best I’ve ever eaten…EVER…a fact, I think, which definitely explains the abundance of customers that streamed in and out of this cute little Abbott Kinney joint while I chowed down on ALL of their incredibly delicious vegan options.

Camped outside for bit, I managed – with a little help from an (overly) obliging friend – to see a box with their Blueberry Cake, Matcha Latte, Orange Olive Oil and Sugar & Spice flavours right out of Tinseltown! And, while only four options are available, I’m now a firm believer – especially after tasting these divine little dainties – in the stores “quality over quantity” motto…#preach!

For now though, nuff said – just go get some…and enjoy every last bite of their otherworldliness!

Where? Abbott Kinney
When? 7am – 8pm Everyday
