Trader Joe’s has launched vegan banana bread with walnuts in select stores.

News of the vegan banana bread spread via Facebook group Vegan Trader Joe’s, a closed community where members share new product finds from the affordable grocery store chain. For the time being, the new product seems to be available to Mid-West and West coast customers only, with group members from Portland, Oregon; Boulder, Colorado; and San Diego reporting that they had found it. As of this week one group member from Libertyville, Illinois reported finding the vegan banana bread at their local store.

Fans of the grocery store are raving about the new product. “Don’t buy that banana bread, y’all. It’s delicious and you’ll finish the loaf in 24 hours. A friend told me,” one group member “warned.”

Since the beginning of September, Trader Joe’s has launched a number of seasonal vegan products for fall. Customers from coast-to-coast have reported find plant-based pumpkin-shaped sugar cookies, vegan candy corn-flavored popcorn, pumpkin “Joe-Joe’s”, the chain’s take on Oreo cookies, vegan canned pumpkin cinnamon rolls, pumpkin spice almond milk, and baking mixes. Many customers have reported that Trader Joe’s pumpkin and muffin baking mix, which is also available gluten-free, can be made vegan by swapping the eggs for half a can of pumpkin puree, with applesauce, or with flax eggs.

Not only is Trader Joe’s known for carrying affordable pantry staples and specialty vegan products under its private label brand, it also offers a number of options from established companies at a lower price than other grocery stores. It offers Tofurky’s vegan Italian sausages, high-protein Lightlife chicken tenders, Miyoko’s Kitchen European butter and cream cheese, and a selection of Dr. Praeger’s burgers.

Across the nation, sales of plant-based food are on the rise. According to research conducted by Nielsen on behalf of the Good Food Institute last September, sales of vegan meat, egg replacements, and dairy-style products surpassed $3.7 billion last year.
