Originaly establised in 1958 as Pronto Markets, the founder changed the name to Trader Joe’s in 1967. The first TJ store was opended in Pasadena on August 25th and they now have 467 stores in 41 states. TJ employees first started wearing their signature Hawaiin shirts in 1969 and today the store is synonymous with an amazing array of vegetables, groceries and excellent vegan food all at very reasonable prices.

We’ve compiled our Top 5 Trader Joe Picks to pick up this week when you join the celebrations.

Cookie Butter

cookie butter

Cookies in a jar? You cant go wrong. You need to have this in your cupboard if you don’t already.

Marshmallows

S’mores at the ready- Give us your best kum ba yah!

Soy Chorizo

Soy Chorizo

This gives a real depth of flavour to stews and it’s great diced, fried and sprinkled over salads. Alternatively it works as a great snack for camping trips or day hikes.

Coconut Cashews

Great sweet tropical snack, perfect for a grab n’ go bite. TJs are not scared of trying out new flavor combinations and… we’re okay with that.

Cinnamon Rolls

Breakfast, afternoon treat or for dessert, served fresh from the oven with ice cream (try TJ Soy Creamy Vanilla). These rolls are so good.

Chickenless Crispy Tenders

For those nights when you need a quick dinner for the family, simply add chips and salad. Also really good in homemade ‘chicken’ burgers.
