UK-based health food giant Holland & Barrett is looking for 500 new vegan products to add to its shelves this year.
The retailer already offers a selection of vegan and vegetarian items across its 800 stores in the UK and in Ireland, selling products from brands such as Violife, Amy’s Kitchen, Hippeas, and more. However, with the trend for plant-based living rising, the chain is now looking to expand its vegan offerings across the board. The company is on the hunt for new snacks, chilled and frozen products, drinks, and sports nutrition products.
“We’ve been long committed to a plant-based lifestyle even offering members of the Vegan Society a discount in store,” said Emma Cockerill, Holland & Barrett’s director of product development, in a statement. “With the growing amount of vegans in the UK comes the need for an expanded range of great products for them to choose from.
“We know from our suppliers that vegan foods taste better than ever and are available in many more categories than just the chiller,” she continued. “Which is why we are open to working with brands of all sizes, from full distribution to online only, or listings in our bigger H&B More stores.”
Holland & Barrett isn’t only looking to increase the presence of plant-based products in its existing stores, it’s also working on a brand new vegan-only store. In May, the retailer spoke to The Telegraph of its plans. “The amount of people that are engaging in that lifestyle is rising,” said the chief executive of the chain, Peter Aldis. He added, “it’s our space and we should be in it.” Currently, it is not confirmed when the new store will be opening.

The health food chain isn’t the only business looking for vegan brands to work with.
