Vegan Beyond Burger Lands Permanent Menu Spot at Nearly 500 TGI Friday’s

After a successful two-month trial run, the popular plant-based Beyond Burger will now be served at nearly 500 recently updated Burger Bars at TGI Friday’s location across the U.S., the chain announced earlier this week.

The meatless patty made from pea protein, beets, and coconut oil, started the trial run at the fast casual chain in September with the hopes of finding a permanent spot on the menu. That will happen come January when the chain will feature the Beyond Burger at all locations. In addition to a featured Beyond Burger preparation, TGI Friday’s customers can also use it as a substitute for any of the chain’s other burger options.

“TGI Fridays is a staple in the American dining landscape, and we are thrilled they are bringing The Beyond Burger to their customers. From the onset, The Beyond Burger has been about delivering delicious, satiating, center-of-the-plate protein for the entire family to enjoy. I’m elated to see this vision come to fruition with TGI Fridays,”  Ethan Brown, CEO and Founder of Beyond Meat, said in a September press release.

The Beyond Burger launched in 2016 and has quickly become Beyond Meat’s most successful product. It sizzles, smells, tastes, and performs just like a burger made from meat — a feat years in the making as Beyond Meat’s team of scientists analyzed thousands of potential ingredients. The burger made instant headlines when it launched in May 2016 as it was merchandised alongside meat counters in Whole Foods Markets and other participating grocers. It can now be found in supermarkets including Safeway and Kroger.
