Vegan Celebrity Miley Cyrus Celebrates 4th of July With Plant-Based Impossible Burger

Vegan singer-songwriter and actress Miley Cyrus has long been an influential figure in the vegan movement. Most recently, the plant-powered celeb was spotted chowing down on a vegan meat Impossible Burger.

The image was shared by Cyrus herself on social media and has racked up 15,000 likes in just a few hours. The photo is adorned with blue, red, and white balloons, with Cyrus wearing a similarly themed outfit, suggesting the image was taken at an Independence Day celebration.

Impossible Foods is the company behind the burger that is said to look, cook, and taste like conventional meat yet is created with entirely plant-based ingredients. The brand commented on Cyrus’ post, saying, “Woo! Thanks for sharing the ?❤️.”

Fans flocked online to show support for the star, with several naming her a “vegan queen.” Others claimed the product was “the best burger” and, “This tweet made me hungry.” Even meat-eating fans questioned where they can find the vegan burger to try for themselves.

Cyrus is often seen promoting a plant-based diet and vegan lifestyle. Most recently, the star launched a collection of vegan and cruelty-free Converse shoes for Pride Month. In December, she was awarded the title of Best Voice for Animals by the world’s largest animal rights organization PETA. In a post thanking the organization, she wrote, “I am very certain that veganism is taking over.”

The musician attended this year’s Met Gala to spread awareness about veganism. Speaking to reporters, she said, “I think this moment can be about so many different things and for me, I want to bring a message, which is veganism and that there doesn’t have to be torture in fabulous fashion.” Notably, Cyrus’ date for the evening was cruelty-free sustainable designer Stella McCartney.

While one shared image of a meat-free burger may seem inconsequential, research indicates that celebrities using their platforms to spread awareness is an effective way of evoking change. One Harvard review that discusses the harmful impact of meat and dairy on climate change, stated, “Celebrities can help draw attention to an issue and galvanise youth engagement.”  Other data found one in four teenagers are more influenced by celebrities than people they know.
