A kiosk featuring an entirely vegan menu has opened in Brooklyn’s Barclays Center, home to the Nets and the New York Islanders. Called Happy Cow V2, the restaurant offers an array of plant-based fare.

Those visiting the Barclays Center for a game, concert, or event can choose from menu options like the Happy Cow Burger, which features Beyond Meat’s plant-based Beyond Burger patty with lettuce and tomato served on a potato bun. The Guac Vegan Burger is the same, only with a dollop of housemade guacamole. Mushroom and tofu tacos, vegan hot dogs, and meatless chili dogs are also on offer.

Vegan snacks are also on the Happy Cow V2 menu. Customers can enjoy loaded nachos topped with pico de gallo, guac, and dairy-free cheese sauce as well as Tuscan white bean soup from the vegan-friendly New York City-based restaurant chain, Hale and Hearty Soups.

Vegan Food Near Barclays Center

Happy Cow V2 is likely a welcome addition to the Barclays Center’s food vendor lineup; many bloggers and visitors have reported disappointment in the stadium’s offerings in the past. However, those looking to grab a meal before their event can find plenty of options in Brooklyn.

American Vegan, located just half a mile away in Brooklyn’s Prospect Heights neighborhood, offers comfort food like Beyond Burgers, Beyond Sausage Bratwurst, and sweet potato fries.

La Vellutata serves Italian-inspired dishes and vegan burgers. VSPOT specializes in organic vegan Latin American-inspired food including empanadas, arepas, bandeja paisa, and tacos.

Riverdel is a gourmet vegan cheese shop that offers grab-and-go meal options, a sandwich menu, and pastries in addition to dairy-free cheeses made by artisans from across the country. Brooklyn newcomer Rip’s Malt Shop is a take on the classic American five-and-dime, serving plant-based protein from Beyond Meat and Field Roast.

The Brooklyn area offers even more options for those who are willing to travel beyond the Barclays Center for vegan food, as does Manhattan. Last month, finance company Wallet Hub ranked NYC as the best city for vegan food.
