Vegan musician Moby is selling his New York midcentury modern home and donating a portion of the proceeds to his animal rights foundation, amongst other causes.

The 3,162 square foot two bedroom house, on Salem Road in Pound Ridge, New York, is priced at $1,300,000 and described on Trulia as the “quintessential country getaway.”

“Ok, this might seem odd…I have a beautiful house in Pound Ridge, NY,”
the singer wrote on Instagram. “It was designed in 1957 by David Henken, an architect who worked closely with Frank Lloyd Wright. It’s one of the most beautiful mcm houses I’ve seen, but to be honest, I’m rarely there.”

He continued, “I’m going to sell it and take the money [to] support progressive political candidates, support my animal rights foundation, produce documentaries, and fund scholarships.”

Moby’s Charitable Proceeds

This is not the first time Moby has decided to sell some of his property and donate the profits to support the animals. In April, the musician announced he was selling some of his musical equipment, donating the money gained to the plant-based medical organization the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM). Again, in June, the artist sold his own personal record collection, with the profits also going to PCRM.

“I would rather you have them than me,” he said in a video for his Reverb LP Shop. “Because if you have them, you’ll play them, you’ll love them, and the money will go to the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine. So everybody wins. Well, except me, because now I don’t have any records.”

Further, back in March, Moby announced that all profits from his latest album, “Everything is Beautiful and Nothing Hurt,” and his live shows, would be donated to animal rights organizations. He wrote on Instagram, “animal rights are more important to me than any small, selfish concerns I might have.”

But the singer doesn’t just donate money to animal rights causes, he also speaks up for them. In June, he gave his first ever TEDx talk, titled “Why I’m a Vegan.” “Every animal, no matter how big or how small or how wild or how domesticated, wants to be alive and simply wants to be happy,” he said.
