Whether you are a newbie in the kitchen or simply a lover of all things food, vegan online cooking classes can help you take your home-cooked meals to the next level.
For all the plant-based foodies out there looking for step-by-step directions on how to make delicious meat-, dairy-, and egg-free recipes—there are a number of virtual, vegan cooking classes to help you hone your cooking skills.
Benefits of Vegan Cooking Classes
There are a number of culinary institutions around the world that give specialized in-person cooking courses designed for all experience levels. However, a downside to these classes is that they require more rigid levels of commitment.
Online cooking classes give participants the ability to move through the program on their own schedule and at their own pace. Online courses are also typically offered in a more informal manner and are shorter in duration—which is beneficial for those with time constraints.
From classes that teach you how to make tasty desserts to courses that show you how to best “veganize” a recipe classic—here are seven of the best vegan online cooking programs to help you improve your culinary skills.
These Are the 7 Best Vegan Online Cooking Classes
1. Essential Vegan Desserts
If you have got a sweet tooth, then this cooking course is for you. The 90-day online course is based on Fran Costigan’s popular Vegan Baking Boot Camp. Fran Costigan is a leading dairy-free pastry chef. She has also developed many of the courses given at the Natural Gourmet Institute for Health and Culinary Arts and at the Institute of Culinary Education and is internationally renowned for her delectable vegan desserts.
The Essential Vegan Desserts’ program focuses on fundamental cooking techniques and recipes for crafting high-quality, vegan desserts. Learn how to use key kitchen equipment, various ingredients, and basic techniques for making tasty dairy- and egg-free treats. Participants in the course will learn how to make a variety of classic desserts—such as tarts, cookies, cakes, and mousses.

2. Wicked Healthy
Together with his brother Derek Sarno, Chad Sarno founded Wicked Healthy to “inspire [people] to cook and eat more plants” and to prove that eating healthy doesn’t mean you have to eat food that tastes bad.
Sarno offers easy-to-follow online cooking classes via his Wicked Healthy Party course. It teaches students how to make more than 20 recipes, including party snacks, tacos, and more.
The vegan chef also offers an online cooking class designed for kids. The Wicked Healthy Kids course teaches families how to make on-the-go snacks and lunches, weeknight desserts, healthy dips, and other recipes to get kids excited to help out in the kitchen.

5. Food Future Institute
Celebrity chef Matthew Kenney launched an online cooking program, called the Food Future Institute, earlier this month. The course teaches innovative techniques for preparing plant-based meals at home. Students are able to work through the program at their own pace.
According to Kenney, vegan cooking courses are necessary because the “building blocks” are different from cooking animal-based foods. “If you look at French cuisine, there are the mother samples, the stocks, the thickening agents, and sauces,” he told the Beet. “Of course, basic knife skills are the same, but the building blocks are completely different, like making cream from nuts.”
He added: “even the most sophisticated chef doesn’t realize that, so we are teaching it through a very different skillset.”

Through Veecoco’s online cooking course, you can learn how to become a “hero in your [own] kitchen.” The program gives users access to 13 different cooking courses with more than 270 lessons. The classes teach a wide range of cuisines, including Japanese, Italian, Thai, desserts, raw food recipes, and more.
“I’m so happy to find Veecoco because I love international food but struggle to make it at home. The courses make learning to cook vegan easy, intriguing, and full of flavor,” one student said in a review of the course.

Located in London, the Vegan Chef School is a vocational fast-track training program that teaches students how to become professional vegan chefs. The Vegan Chef School also offers a variety of masterclasses.
Its online Professional Vegan Chef Course, which costs £750, includes a number of hands-on practical classes on topics like how to create, scale, and “veganize” recipes. It also teaches students how to use “specialist ingredients” and cook with unusual foods.
Earlier this year, the cooking school also started giving daily free cooking classes on Facebook Live for those looking to boost their cooking skills.
