Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Gifted Adopted Rescue Bull for Royal Wedding

Vegan animal rights organization, PETA India, has rescued a bull in honour of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s fast-approaching wedding.

The bull was adopted under the name “Merry,” a mash-up of the couple’s names (and it’s also a nod to the “merry” occasion).

“Prince Harry and Meghan Markle now have a one-ton bull to call their own,” PETA founder, Ingrid Newkirk told Express. “Rescuing Merry is an ideal wedding present for a couple who want their day celebrated with charitable works and contributions. The royal wedding is the perfect time for anyone to spare a thought for and show some love to all our fellow living beings.”

The adoption certificate is reportedly flying to Kensington Palace, the place the couple will call home. The bull’s story of how the adoption came to be is included on the certificate.

“Merry was found weak and injured in the Indian state of Maharashtra. He had probably been forced to toil in the hot sun pulling a heavy cart his entire life,” reads the certificate. “He has since been rescued, rehabilitated and retired. His days of hardship are behind him, and he now lives in peace and serenity with his other rescued friends at a sanctuary in Maharashtra. Merry is wearing a garland [comprised from vegetables] around his neck in honour of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s nuptials – and he will later eat it!”

Markle is yet to make her royal title official, but her support for animal advocacy throughout her life has been royally positive. The soon-to-be newest Mountbatten-Windsor royal family member is reportedly a key influencer for iconic brand Burberry, known for dressing the royal family, as it moves to ditch fur.

In addition to lending her voice for animals, Markle told Best Health that she eats a vegan diet on weekdays, and recently, sources told British media she and her fiance are on a strict diet and exercise regime to get in royal shape for their wedding. The couple is believed to have taken meat off the menu and are focusing on consuming whole, plant-based foods.

Markle’s former commercial agent that she worked alongside during her acting career, Nelthorpe-Cowne, said the royal-to-be “refuses” to wear or promote fur and once left a hotel that displayed a caged live parrot. Also, a “royal insider” noted Markle’s stance against hunting prompted Harry to abstain from the royal family’s traditional Boxing Day hunt last year.

Extending their consideration to the planet, the modern-day royal couple has asked well-wishers to donate to hand-selected non-profit causes in favor of bearing wedding gifts. Two of the organizations are focused on marine life and environmental conservation. The couple’s engagement and forthcoming wedding photographer is also ethical vegan royalty.
