New York City is on lockdown. Earlier this month, Governor Andrew Cuomo told all New Yorkers to stay inside as much as possible and enacted new restrictions on businesses and gatherings of people to help curb the spread of coronavirus. Nonessential businesses are required to keep all workers at home.
In the midst of the pandemic, grocery stores and restaurants are still in operation, but with social distancing in effect, eateries have switched over to delivery or pick-up only.

1. Spicy Moon
With dishes ranging from dan dan noodles and mapo tofu to mala Beyond Beef meatballs and dry pot, vegan Szechuan restaurant Spicy Moon is open for pick-up and delivery. The East Village location in Manhattan is open for pickup and delivery—it will continue to offer lunch specials.

From nachos and enchiladas to jackfruit tacos and tortas, vegan Mexican restaurant Jajaja is open for delivery. It has locations throughout Manhattan as well as one in Brooklyn.

3. Monk’s Meats
Brooklyn-based vegan barbecue joint Monk’s Meats, known for its smoked seitan and pulled mushrooms, is offering delivery throughout Brooklyn. It is also delivering prepared food such as seitan steaks, cauliflower gratin, macaroni salad, chimichurri, and seitan chili throughout Brooklyn, Manhattan, and parts of Queens. With cornbread, buttermilk biscuits, dairy-free mac and cheese, eight-hour brisket, and bourbon-focused cocktails, Honeybee’s knows comfort food. The saloon-inspired establishment is offering a 20 percent discount on all orders with options for takeout and delivery.

Williamsburg, Brooklyn’s Bunna Cafe specializes in vegan Ethiopian cuisine. Mix and match its spiced stews and veggies and remember to get an extra order of injera—a flat, teff-based bread used to scoop up food in lieu of utensils. Orders will only be taken if you call ahead.
