Meat The Very Good Butchers – Making Beans Scream Since 2016

Share

The Very Good Butchers are much like your traditional, local butcher shop in some ways. Small, family owned, and run by people who really know their stuff when it comes to making a decent burger. So what makes the Very Good Butchers any different?

“Our goal is to make good quality meat alternatives that are as accessible as possible to everyone, whether you are looking to reduce meat consumption for environmental concerns, are already a vegan or vegetarian, or are just looking for a tasty healthier alternative.” – James Davison, VGB Founder.

Yes, you read that correctly; this place butchers beans #RIPBertie.

Since conception in 2016, this small family set up have seen incredible interest in their plant based meat products from vegans and non-vegans alike and have since teamed with business partner, Mitchell to continue meeting public demand.

Located in Beautiful British Columbia, this bean-butchery provide local, organic, and delicious meat alternatives that everyone can enjoy and feel good about. To give you an example of just how ‘good’ the Very Good Butchers’ products are, just take a look at the ingredients list from their signature product “The Very Good Burger”.

Organic Black Beans, Organic Vital Wheat Gluten, Organic Pearl Barley, Organic Oats, Organic Onion, Organic Carrot, Organic Celery, Organic Mushrooms, Organic Beetroot, Organic Apple Juice, Organic Apple Cider Vinegar, Organic Tomato Paste, Organic Olive Oil, Nutritional Yeast with B12, Organic Walnuts, Herbs and Spices.

Yup, not an e-number or icky additive in sight!

“[The burger] has notes of a classic charred burger fresh off the BBQ, with notes of fresh local herbs and bites of juicy barley with an array of consistent yet changing textures. With a perfect amount of flavour, you might forget you’re eating all your veggies”.

And from first hand experience, we can concur – their meat tastes nothing like a boring bean pattie, far from it in fact! They’re just really bloody delicious.

As to be expected with such high quality produce, VGB are facing an overwhelming demand which, whilst is certainly encouraging, is also a little problematic! To combat this, the VGB crew have launched a Kickstarter program to help fund their expansion. If all goes to plan, the crowdfunder will enable them to increase their production line, enhance distribution, get on the road with a food truck AND eventually swing open doors to a second location in Vancouver.

“We are incredibly excited to be bringing our plant based meat to the world via Kickstarter. We think it’s a great way to connect directly with people and further our mission of compassionate food choices for all!” – James Davison

So how can you get involved? Well, to celebrate the launch of their Kickstarter campaign they are holding a giveaway competition with some Very Good prizes. Better yet, you don’t even have to be a Canadian resident to win, and as if that wasn’t enough you get rewarded for your pledge too! Check this out:

So, if like us, you want to support the folk at Very Good Butchers, you can choose from 17 different ways to enter their competition, or simply make a pledge to donate. Because in this day and age, who doesn’t want to make very good food that little bit more accessible?
