Yogurtland just launched its first oat milk soft serve flavor. And it tastes just like a freshly baked oatmeal cookie!
The Plant-Based Cinnamon Oatmeal Cookie is available for a limited time at participating stores. It joins the fro-yo chain’s existing line-up of vegan and dairy-free soft serve and sorbet flavors.
“As we continue to look at flavor trends and sustain our momentum within the plant-based category, oat milk is something we are proud to add into our menu mix,” Brittany Knollmiller, Yogurtland’s senior marketing manager, said in a press release.
“It’s our anniversary year and we are excited to introduce more innovative flavors that everyone can enjoy to stores nationwide,” she added.
In addition to Yogurtland oat milk soft serve, vegan options include dairy-free soft serve and sorbet. The latter is made from real fruit, while the former features a creamy base of coconut milk and coconut oil. Similar to conventional yogurt, it contains active cultures, which give it its tart taste. The chain also carries a number of vegan toppings, including carob chips, crushed nuts, and mochi pieces.
The company launched its first official plant-based flavor in January 2020. The limited-edition Plant-Based Salted Chocolate Soufflé featured a coconut milk base and a flavor reminiscent of the iconic French dessert. After selling out of the flavor in less than two weeks, Yogurtland briefly relaunched the decadent dessert later that year.
Vegan Soft Serve
The vegan ice cream market is expected to be worth $1 billion by 2024. This is according to a 2018 report by market research firm Global Market Insights.
In keeping with the growing demand for plant-based frozen desserts, Yogurtland certainly isn’t the first fro-yo chain to launch a vegan soft serve.
In addition to cold-pressed juices, the health-centric chain Pressed Juicery carries a plant-based soft serve called “Freeze”. Flavors include vanilla, strawberry, chocolate, and pineapple. The chain also offers a number of vegan Freeze toppings. These include granola butter, almond butter, shredded coconuts, sprinkles, fruit, and more.
In 2019, frozen dessert chain 16 Handles launched a new vegan menu featuring cashew-based soft-serve and egg-free cookie dough. The brand partnered with New York-based DŌ Cookie Dough Confection to create a limited-edition plant-based, cookie-flavored cashew soft-serve, Cookie Dough Craving.
And in 2018, IKEA revealed its dairy-free soft-serve ice cream. The Swedish furniture giant said it would be releasing more plant-based food options like the frozen dessert in an effort to meet its sustainability goals.
